What is Tickets There?

‘Tickets There’ is a MySpace dedicated to the promotion and endorsement of Irish Rock/Indie and Electro music acts.
Inspired by the ‘Tickets There’ characters from Eyebrowy (BBC/RTE/Hotpress) music based cartoon. Tickets There is on a quest to list gigs, albums release dates (when possible, I do this after work), news and reviews about alternative Irish groups and performers.
Before you ask, I don’t sell tickets or give them away (unless I happen to have some to spare…that never happens). I am currently trying to promote these acts through writing, sharing my MySpace calendar, writing monthly blogs about up and coming gigs and releases and any other way I can. There is some very special music in Ireland (I know that sounds abit.. but there you are) and it’s a shame to see so many talented musicians going to waste, not being able to fund themselves based on their artistic outputs or even tour their own country. Alot of this I blame on the Irish media as they have ignored much of the music created in Ireland over the last 15 years. Acts such as Turn, Wilt, Juniper, The Red Neck Manifesto, Kerbdog, Berkeley and many more are never promoted by our national broadcasters as much as American and English acts.
In the last few years, thanks partially to stations like Phantom FM, this trend is beginning to change, unfortunately too late for many acts who have already disbanded. It’s time R.T.E. stopped chasing ratings and did the job assigned to them by our government – broadcast Irish programming. It doesn’t all have to be Late, Late shows and Government Reports.
Anyways. This rant was written very quickly so I’ll be making changes (and maybe adding some facts)
